1200cc OUTLAW INFORMATION PACKAGE What is an Outlaw Mini-Sprint? The Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprint is a "World Of Outlaws" appearing sprint car built on a midget style chassis, using a 1200cc motorcycle engine, self-starting, with chain drive. These cars weigh a minimum of 725 pounds. Engines produce between 150 and 210 horsepower, providing an excellent power to weight ratio. Where do they Race Cars of this type are designed to race on 1/5 mile to 1/2 mile, dirt tracks. These race cars are usually a support show for midgets, sprint cars, IMCA modified, etc. Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprints are serious race cars, producing speeds close to midget and 360 sprint car times on 1/4 and 3/8 mile tracks. Who Races These Cars Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprints are an excellent entry level open wheel race car for the aspiring sprint car or midget racer. These cars teach a young driver and crew chief about the fundamentals of front engine open wheel race cars, as seen on the TNN World of Outlaws, and the ESPN Thunder TV Programs.The weekend warrior who loves open wheel racing, but cant afford a midget or sprint car finds the Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprint a great way to get the excitement of serious open wheel racing at a price a family person can afford. The nice thing about these cars is its fun for the whole family, young and old, male or female. Many open wheel racers who have gone on to midgets and sprint cars enjoy racing the Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprint at USOMA National Events. Cost The cost of the Outlaw 1200cc Mini-Sprint is very reasonable compared to the cost of a sprint car or midget. New rolling chassis can be purchased from professional builders for $6,925 to $10,500 dollars. New engines from the manufacturer can be purchased for $3,995 to $4,500 dollars. Engines from a professional builder cost from $6,500 to $ 9,500 dollars. Experienced (Used) cars/rollers can be found from $ 1,500 to 10,500 dollars. Used engines can be found from $850 to $2,500 dollars.Outlaw 1200cc Guidelines General Cars shall be a "World of Outlaws" appearing front engine race car, with wing and tail tank. Driver location will be behind the engine and firewall. Cars shall be chain driven, rear wheel drive. Cars must be self-starting from the drivers cockpit. Chassis Guidelines Roll Cage and Main Uprights: 1-1/4 inch X .095 inch wall Chromemoly tubing, SAE 4130 condition "N". 1-3/8 inch X .095 inch wall 4130 tubing strongly recommended.Wheelbase: 66 inch minimum to 74 inch maximum. Wheels: 13 inch, racing type, beadlock required for the right rear. Beadlocks recommended for both rear and right front rims. Weight: The car shall weigh a minimum of 725 pounds without driver. No external ballast may be added to make minimum weight. Wings: Top Wing, a single wing, with a 16 square foot maximum. Nose wing permitted with a 6 square foot maximum. Tail Tank: Must be of a conventional midget/sprint car design. A 15 gallon fuel cell, of the tail-tank and fuel bladder design, is strongly recommended. Engine Specifications Engines must be normally aspirated, internal combustion, four (4) cycle types of a motorcycle design. Induction system will be either carburetors, constant flow mechanical fuel injection, or OEM fuel injection.Engine Displacement: 1205cc maximum. 1202cc pistons, with cylinder bore clearancing equals 1205cc maximum. Four (4) stroke air or liquid cooled. Fuel: Methanol, Racing Gas or Pump gas allowed. No oxygen enhancing fuel additives maybe used. Maximum engine offset as measured from the centerline of the engine and chassis, shall be 6 inches. Safety Requirements Helmet must be Snell SA2000 or SFI 31.2 rated. Helmets must be upgraded or re-certified within 2 years of a new Snell/SFI standard being approved.Drivers Suit of a single piece design. Double layer Nomex or other SFI approved material. Suit must have SFI 5 rating and label. Fireproof balaclava (head sock), or helmet skirt. Arm restraints with SFI label, fireproof gloves, shoes, and neck collar. Cage net, or helmet restraint built in to the seat, mounted on the right side. Left side cage net is recommended, provided it has a quick release mechanism. Seat Belts and Shoulder Harness shall be 3 inches wide, made of Nylon, Dacron, or other SFI approved material. Belts must conform to SFI specification 16.1, have SFI label, and not be more than 2 years old. No "Y" type shoulder harness permitted.Anti-Submarine (Crotch) Belt of 2 inches in width, single or double strap, with SFI label, and not more than 2 years old. Seat must be an aluminum sprint car/midget racing type. The high-back style is strongly recommended. If seat is not a high-back type, a helmet pad is required. Seat must be mounted to the chassis with a minimum of four (4) mounting points, using SAE grade 5 or better hardware. No 1/4 turn, or quick release fasteners may be used for mounting the seat. Note !!! All belts, and arm restraints must have a common release. Attaching hardware must be SAE grade 5 or better. AN Aircraft or SAE grade 8 hardware is preferred.
